At the current turning point in our relationship with the earth, the animals, and the way we produce and consume food, I reread the poem “Office and Denunciation”, which Federico García Lorca wrote at the beginning of the Great Depression, between 1929 and 1930, during his stay in the United States. Almost a century later, his vision of the economic model, social injustice, and the mistreatment of animals is even more valid in the face of the growing anti-capitalist criticism and the defense of the environment.

En este punto de inflexión en nuestra relación con la tierra, con los animales y con la forma de producir y consumir alimentos, cito el poema “Oficina y Denuncia”, escrito por Federico García Lorca al comienzo de la Gran Depresión, entre 1929 y 1930, durante su estancia en Nueva York, Estados Unidos. Casi un siglo después, su visión acerca del modelo económico, la injusticia social y el maltrato a los animales sigue vigente ante la creciente crítica anticapitalista y la defensa del medio ambiente.
